Welcome While St. Bede is most noted for his Ecclesiastical History of the English People, I am more interested in his Bible commentaries. My Ph.D. dissertation, Bede's Exegetical Theology: Ideas of the Church in the Acts Commentaries of St. Bede the Venerable (University of Notre Dame, 1994), focussed on the way in which explaining the Bible was a way of "doing theology" for Bede. Unless otherwise indicated, information in the following pages comes from the dissertation (which is copyright (c) 1994, and still available only from University Microfilms, Ann Arbor).
